Select Effect Options, and then select By Paragraph to make the paragraphs of text appear one at a time. (The other option, All at Once, makes all the lines of text appear at the same time.)
In the dialog box, on the Effect tab under Enhancements, select the arrow next to Animate text, and select By letter. Then you can change the delay time in the seconds delay between letters box.

By default, when you animate a text placeholder or text box, all text contained animates at one go unless your text content is within a bulleted or numbered list. In that case all text animates as sequenced bulleted lists. Even then, the animation is sequenced to first level paragraphs (first level bullets) only, and any sub-bullet levels contained in your text placeholders or text boxes animate along with its parent level. In this tutorial you will learn to access some specialized options for animating paragraphs and bulleted text sequentially by words, by letters, and by paragraph levels.
Adding animations to a PowerPoint presentation can increase the impact of your words and images. The human brain pays more attention to moving objects, so animation effects automatically piqué the interest of your audience. If used to excess, however, the animations can overwhelm the points that you're trying to make. Adding a few, subtle animations to your presentation will provide interest without distracting your audience. The Mac version of Microsoft Office PowerPoint is very similar to the Windows version, but designed with the Mac user in mind.
Click the "Animations" tab and choose one of the effects. There are four types of animations you can choose: entrance effects, emphasis effects, exit effects and motion path effects. The entrance and exit effects are exactly opposite of each other, one brings an object onto a slide and the other removes it. Emphasis effects will highlight an object already on a slide and motion path effects will move an object around on the slide.
Click the animation effect that you want for your object. If you don't see the effect you want you can click on the down arrow next to the effect type. Subtle effects are advised, so "Fade" and "Zoom" are excellent choices for entrance and exit effects.
Click the "Play" button on the menu ribbon to see the animation in action. Click the "Effect Options" button to adjust the way each animation looks. Change the "Duration" number to speed up or slow down the animation, the number is in seconds or decimals of seconds. Click on the drop-down menu next to "Start" to set when the animation will begin: "On Click" to require a mouse click, "With Previous" to synchronize with the previous animation or "After Previous" to start after the previous animation is over.
3. When you have selected your animation, click on the Animation Pane button to customise your animation. This is next to the Add Animation button (see above screenshot).
8. The next tab is Timing, which does exactly what it says on the tin. You can choose when you want your animation to start (on click, with previous or after previous), the duration of the animation, add a delay and choose whether you want the animation to repeat.
You can not only make text stand out in your presentations but make it pop right off the screen. Using animations to highlight text is a great way to add some pizzazz to your Microsoft PowerPoint slideshow.
Go to the slide and select the box containing the text. Because the animation will add color to the entire box, you may want to resize it first. You can do this by dragging a corner or edge in or out.

With the method above, the hidden text will always appear in the same order no matter where in the slide you click. If you want to control the order in which your text appears during your presentation, you can make use of PowerPoint triggers. This allows you to make different text appear depending on where you click.
Highlighting certain parts of the text for emphasis is a routine requirement for business presenters. Unfortunately, there are no ready-made options to call attention to the text in PowerPoint as there is in Word.
Choose the text you want to highlight. Draw an arrow pointing to the text as shown in the above slide. Choose Fill color -> Color of your choice. Choose Line color -> No line color.
To see your work so far, select the first animation in the Animation Pane and click Play From. All three items will grow simultaneously and then shrink simultaneously just a bit faster than they grew.
Second, set all of the shrink items (2, 4, and 6) to After Previous. The animation is similar and requires fewer clicks, but you might need to slow down the After Previous setting to match the discussion.
We spent a lot of time experimenting with different settings to see how they change the Grow/Shrink animation. Doing so should help you understand the sequence of events so you get the results you want when applying this animation to you own work.
I have used the feature when creating image-only slideshows to give things a bit of movement and depth, but you could easily use it to give graphic backgrounds just a little something extra under text.
You can set your existing PowerPoint animations to play automatically so that you don't have to click the slide area to make the next item appear.
